The Bach Cello Suites Project

Dancer, choreographer, and co-director of Fidget, Megan Bridge collaborates with her son, 17-year-old cellist Tristan Price, on this ongoing project with the simple working title: The Bach Cello Suites. The six cello suites are well-loved pieces and are some of the most popular compositions for solo cello.

The duo premiered Suites No. 1 & 2 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in summers 2023 and ‘24, respectively, delighting audiences of over 700 people each year in the Museum’s Great Stair Hall. Suite No. 3 will premiere in July, 2025, also at the PMA. We are looking to partner with other museums and venues, please reach out if you know someone you’d like to connect to this project. megan[at]thefidget.org.

Megan brings an improvisational approach to real-time movement generation within the structure and filigree of Bach’s tightly woven suites. Each of the movements of each suite are themselves dances: Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Minuet, Bourré, and Gigue; and they lend themselves exceedingly well to a dance interpretation of these masterful works.

Tristan is a young cellist who has already developed a mature depth of sound in his playing, and brings a fresh take to the Bach suites. This project was initiated by Fidget's co-director Peter Price, who serves as dramaturg and musicological advisor on the project.
