Dancer, choreographer, and co-director of Fidget, Megan Bridge collaborates with her son, 16-year-old cellist Tristan Price, on this ongoing project with the simple working title: The Bach Cello Suites. The six cello suites are well-loved pieces and are some of the most popular compositions for solo cello.

The duo premiered the first of the six suites at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in July, 2023, for an audience of over 700 people. Tristan and Megan return to the Great Stair Hall this August 16 & 17 with Suite #2.

Megan brings an improvisational approach to real-time movement generation within the structure and filigree of Bach’s tightly woven suites. Each of the movements of each suite are themselves dances: Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Minuet, Bourré, and Gigue; and they lend themselves exceedingly well to a dance interpretation of these masterful works.

Tristan is a young cellist who has already developed a mature depth of sound in his playing, and brings a fresh take to the Bach suites. This project was initiated by Fidget's co-director Peter Price, who serves as dramaturg and musicological advisor on the project.
