Event Description:
The concept of biopolitics has found new significance in the years 2020-2021, when topics such as the spread of our breath and circles of contamination are top of mind, and wearing a mask--or not--is the subject of political, cultural, and ideological struggle. The reduction of life to biopolitics is one of the main threads in philosopher Giorgio Agamben's work. His recent work "Biosecurity and Politics," published to his blog in May 2020, is the starting point for this forum. This short reading is followed by links to a number of other relevant works by Agamben. Read as much or as little as you like, and join us in discussion on Zoom.
