Annie, Christina, Megan and Zornitsa have forged much of their creative and life practices in the Fishtown/Kensington area over the last decade. They care for and lean into each other. They squirm their processes all up next to each other’s processes. And they have questions.
Like how do formalism and humanity collide in choreography? How do bodies crash against systems? How do 30-somethings working in a gentrifying neighborhood shift our perspective in order to illuminate what is already there that’s not seen, as opposed to what is imagined?
Time and sensation are our narratives. The content is rigorous and the conditions inviting. Are we just four white women drinking wine together and having pillow fights? Maybe.
But also there will be dancing.
Megan Bridge (choreographer) and Peter Price (composer) are co-directors of <fidget>. Space, Pulse, Pattern, Presence (excerpt) uses sound and movement through pattern-based repetitions that loop and evolve to play with shifting performance qualities that explore different ways of being present.
Christina Gesualdi is a Philly based dance, choreographer, and movement educator. She is an artist in residence at Mascher Space Co-op where she makes experiential work that researches a certain softness and imaginative off-ness in the body. She is an advocate for DIY, small scale cooperation, collaboration, and community exchange in Philly’s dance community. fuck those permeable curves is a dance in memory of LOVE Park.
